Tavia Record

Tavia works as a technical publications writer for an international IT firm. Her background includes creating technical instruction manuals and recording and managing standard operating procedures in technical guidelines. Her favorite part of her current role involves interviewing engineers to extract information that she uses to write content that highlights the company's IT infrastructure modernization solutions for federal government proposals.

As a member of the Society for Technical Communication (STC) Washington DC-Baltimore (WDCB) chapter, Tavia served as the 2nd vice-president and chapter technical communication competition manager during the 2017-2018 term, and the 1st vice-president and chapter technical communication competition manager during the 2018-2019 term.

On the society's international level, Tavia served as a member of the Outreach Team of the STC Community Affairs Committee (CAC) during the 2017-2018 term. Tavia was a speaker on the Women in Technical Communication Panel as well as the Future of Technical Communication Panel at the 2018 STC Summit Conference. During the 2018-2019 term, Tavia served as the Student Outreach Director on the STC CAC and as the assistant manager of the STC Consulting and Independent Contractor Special Interest Group.

Some of Tavia's professional interests include federal government proposal writing, content management, technical editing, database management, project management, and legal writing.
