Basic Function

Act as a co-administrator for the Jobs Board. This site holds the information for job seekers, employers, job announcements, and resumes—it is not open for posts.

Responsibilities

You are expected to be an active participant in maintaining the assigned chapter website.

  • Manage users who register to post jobs (employers, recruiters, employee referral) and to post resumes (job seekers).
  • Respond to inquiries about registering on the site and set users up with logon ID and secure password if they need help. The site is self-serve for maintaining job announcements and resumes so they can register themselves.
  • Monitor job announcements and resumes submitted to the Jobs Board; provide assistance if needed.
  • Run weekly imports of CareerBuilder to add new jobs and review the posts to see if they need additional information from the full post on CareerBuilder such as:
    • City, State
    • Direct URL for applying
    • Job description
    • Responsibilities
    • Requirements
    • Change time to keep posted to 65 days
    • If company has a specific URL to use for applying, put that in the How to Apply section
    • Contact information, if needed

  • During a job drought, look through corporate websites to find jobs to post.

  • Ensure all links to sites going away from our site use ref="nofollow" attribute.
  • Ensure all links do not use tabindex="₀" attribute.
  • Ensure all links do not use title="₀" attribute.
  • Ensure all image links use the alt="₀" attribute to describe the image and that image links do not use title="₀".
  • Monitor and upgrade WordPress versions as needed.
  • Monitor and upgrade WordPress plugins as needed.
  • Monitor Google Webmaster Tools for suspicious activity; resolve problems identified.
  • Monitor all security reports for suspicious activity; add bad IP addresses to the Black List.
  • Run periodic cleanup of the database and trouble shoot any hacked tables.

Experience and Skills

  • Ability to take initiative

  • Familiarity with job hunting and career options.
  • WordPress skills
    • WordPress 3.5.1+ Text Editor for pages if they need editing
    • Accessibility / Section 508 requirements
    • MySQL Database management
  • Familiararity with PHP includes and modularized site structure
  • Knowledge of and access to FTP software
  • Familiarity with file maintenance and version control
  • Experience with Adobe PhotoShop and Adobe Acrobat helpful
  • Familiarity with JavaScript (optional)

Equipment

  • Your own computer
  • Browser (Google Chrome or Firefox)
  • FTP application
  • Text Editor with CSS and HTML5 support (such as BBEdit for Macintosh)
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Adobe Photoshop (or equivalent photo editing tool)

Time Commitment

Expect to spend 4 to 5 hours a week importing and updating job announcements. Expect to spend 2 to 4 hours a week during other times for monitoring Google Webmaster Tools, tracking down and fixing hacking attempts, and updating other pages as needed.
